Mrs. Rebecca Wardlow, Principal

Winding Creek Elementary School is a very special place, and it is my priviledge to serve the community as its principal!  At Winding Creek we are family, which is expressed with the phrase, "Once a Wolf, Always a Wolf."  We are a family that believes in each other, supports each other, and brings out the best in each other.  We set the bar high for our students and ourselves.  As teachers and staff, our goal for your child is expressed best by describing the Winding Creek Learner Profile, which is for our students to leave Winding Creek as a creator, collaborator, communicator, and critical thinker with outstanding character and a growth mindset.  Home and school are a team that works together, and we look forward to building a strong partnership to support your child's success.

I have been in education for over 30 years.  I am orginially from Arkansas, and as a military wife, I have had the great opportunity to teach in a variety of locations in and out of the country.  My family moved to Stafford, Virginia in 2002, after my husband retired from 22 years in the Army.  I have two wonderful daughters who are graduates of Stafford schools.  Having had the opportunity to teach in a variety of schools and school districts, I am proud to be a part of an excellent school system with high standards, and although we are in unpredicented times with Covid, we will rise to the challenges and come out even better on the other side.  Together, we can accomplish anything!  Welcome to The Creek!!

Mrs. Amy Horne, Assistant Principal

I am so very honored to be part of the leadership team at Winding Creek Elementary. I was born and raised in Connecticut before relocating to Virginia for my first teaching job. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Disability Studies/Communication Disorders at Springfield College in 2000 and my Masters in Education of the Deaf at Smith College in 2003. Later, I earned my Masters of Education from the University of Mary Washington and my endorsement in Educational Leadership from Fort Hayes State University.

I started my career teaching students who were deaf/hard of hearing in Washington DC & Richmond, VA before joining Stafford County Public Schools in 2007 & I have worked and lived in Stafford ever since.  My professional journey in Stafford Schools began as a teacher of autism at Kate Waller Barrett Elementary. In 2014, I started working within the Department of Student Services & Special Education as the Secondary Autism Coordinator and then later, as Supervisor of Student Services. In the summer of 2022, I transitioned to Winding Creek and was the Department Chair and Designee through last school year. I knew immediately that Winding Creek was a wonderful place and that I wanted to spend a long time here!

My husband, daughter and son live here in Stafford and the kids attend Stafford Schools. When I am not cheering them on at a game or practice, I love to spend time crafting and reading.

I am so excited and honored to serve this school community and to get to know all of you! Please introduce yourself when you see me. Here's to a wonderful year!
